Rural Journalism

P2P is currently exploring a partnership with the University of Kentucky, School of Journalism to develop a Rural Journalism program that will help to both train and equip the cadre of newly trained health extension workers under the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) to carry out public education campaigns with respect to HIV/AIDS and other diseases, prioritized by national health policy strategies. Targeting the rural areas, radio, print media/newspapers, and other easily accessible media will be used to convey the messages and reach the maximum number of people. The project will help to support the health extension workers in sharing their experiences in the field, and to help establish and foster partnership amongst multiple stakeholders (under the leadership of the FMoH). A team of professionals will be established for ensuring regular contribution and review of potential articles for publishing. We hope to announce specific details of this endeavor shortly.
