Already an important and successful project of P2P, the 3rd annual conference must further push the envelope and capitalize on the opportunity to highlight women’s issues.
The annual “Empowering Women is Empowering a Nation” conference provides a rare opportunity to highlight the issues most pressing to women in Ethiopia and to focus the conversation on how to successfully serve their needs in a fast-changing world. The conference welcomes individuals who want to make a positive difference in women’s lives, non-profit organizations, international organizations, government agencies, educators, researchers, and anyone interested in the empowerment of women. Some of the conference objectives include:
- Creating a platform to exchange innovative ideas on empowerment of women in various sectors
- Identifying priority interventions to implement within women’s health and well-being programs
- Establishing a network that links and mobilizes the diaspora and friends of Ethiopia
Following the first annual conference held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in 2010 and the second annual conference held in May 2011 in Arlington, Virginia, the 3rd annual conference will focus on issues affecting rural women and is scheduled to be held in Washington, DC in September 2012. Details of this year’s event will be announced shortly.
