In Ethiopia, the adult literacy rate is just 30%. It is estimated that less than half of all Ethiopian children will stay in school long enough to finish their primary education, and less than a quarter will finish secondary school. Only a quarter of all Ethiopian youth have comprehensive knowledge of HIV/AIDS…These are just a few of the important statistics that demonstrate the massive challenges encountered in engaging in education-related development work in Ethiopia. Education holds the key to building an informed citizenry, a thriving civil society, a strong economy, a healthy society, and a brighter future for all.
